PHONIATRICS

The Alsalam Hospital Phoniatrics Department is a specialized unit dedicated to provide comprehensive care for individuals with communication (language, speech and voice disorders) and swallowing disorders. Our department is staffed with highly skilled and experienced Phoneticians skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all age group.

Our team provides comprehensive evaluations and assessments to identify the underlying causes of these disorders. We then develop personalized treatment plans that may include language, speech, voice and swallowing therapy, and we offer assistive communication device in addition to treatment of different learning disabilities.

We utilize advanced techniques, such as fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), to assess and diagnose voice and swallowing disorders in children and adults. We also offer audiological evaluations and hearing aid fittings to address hearing-related communication difficulties.

We provide assessment and management in the Outpatient clinics of:

			Delayed language development in children.
			Assessment and rehabilitation after cochlear implantations.
			Hypernasality, Stuttering, Dysarthria, Dyslalia.
			Learning disabilities, dyslexia.
			Flexible fiberoptic nasopharyngo-laryngoscopy for assessment of patients of: velopharyngeal insufficiency, snoring, pharyngeal dysphagia, and voice disorders.
			Voice therapy programs are applied in order to manage voice dysphonia for all age groups:
			Dysarthrophonia in cases of dysarthria.
			Assessment of dysphonia or stridor in neonates and children due to congenital laryngeal disorders as laryngomalacia, laryngeal web, sulcus glottidus.
			Assessment and management of hypernasality due to functional or organic factors (cleft palate) causing velopharyngeal insufficiency.
